Doctors may be the only persons on the Earth whom we trust blindly with our lives at stake. They are considered to be the God on this planet. When someone from our family falls sick we take them to the doctor and consume medicines without any hesitation because we understand they are more knowledgeable and experienced in their fields. But frankly speaking, we want our family members to stay healthy and be with us so we never question the doctors ever. But we do not know that Doctors are not God, they are just a Money- Making Machine who are living in mansions with all our money and playing with our emotions.
A Facebook user, Parul Bhasin Verma broke this “really not so shocking” news on the internet about how the doctors cheated her and her family for money and juggled with their emotions and charged over Rs. 1 Crore. All for what? A mother who died too young!
Parul in her Facebook Post mentioned that her family has experienced “Medical Kidnapping” case when her mother was admitted in ICU for her treatment for more than 100 days and the two hospitals Yashoda Hospital, Hyderabad and BL Kapoor, New Delhi asked for 1 lakh per day with total bill coming up to around 1.2 crores. Parul’s mother who got admitted in BL Kapoor on 2nd January 2018 due to Ammonia attack, was diagnosed with the late stage of Liver Cirrhosis. Doctors on 4th January advised to undergo Liver transplantation with the total cost mentioned as 18-19 Lakhs. On January 12th, a lady named Jyotsna Verma contacted her to make a Liver available for her mother and the estimated cost was mentioned as 23 Lakhs. Jyotsna On January 16thinformed that a deceased liver was available in Yashoda Hospital for which she charged 1 lakhs. The estimated cost at Yashoda was 27 Lakhs. On 5th February, her mother underwent the surgery and it was successful. But soon she was kept on a ventilator because of Lung Infection. The hospital charged 1 Lakhs/day from the family. Once the hospital got to know that the family is broke, they even asked to discharge the patient. She was moved to Delhi and admitted in BL Kapoor. Parul even mentioned that the family was forced to buy medicines from the hospital itself which were quite costlier than outside. The family was even threatened to have the patient’s treatment stopped. Her mother on 7th May succumbed to this due to multiple organ failure and has left the family in distress.
My question here is why do we have to pay so much to save a person’s life? With so many middle-class families in India, how the Government is speculating that we will be able to pay this much just to “LIVE”?
